We are pleased to announce that we will be returning to the Artisan Centre in Peterborough Square for our weekly drop-ins Thursdays 3:30-5:30 starting in October. Please stay tuned for more details and our COVID-19 protocols to be able to make art together safely.
Creating space is a small, nonprofit organization that offers free art supplies as well as the space to enable anyone who walks through our door to get creative. We are seeking corporate and community sponsorship in order to ensure that we can keep up with our rent and various expenses and continue serving the Peterborough community for years and years to come. Creating Space uses art-making as a tool to create multiple opportunities for dialogue, skill-sharing, and relationship-building between people of different socio-economic backgrounds, ages, cultures and abilities. It fosters self-directed experiences of creativity, learning, and leadership. It encourages re-use and recycling, invites experimentation, fosters community, and helps to build emotional and relational resilience.
On our 3 days/week schedule, we provide services to 100 people/month. Projects that patrons create include paintings, collage, sculpture, sewing, knitting, crocheting, poetry, mask-making, dance, clay, plaster, jewelry making, stamping, screen printing, etc. We have had several short term and pop-up locations in the last two years based upon the generous donations of rent-free space of various locations. We have recently set up shop at PACE on McDonnel Street in the old PCVS building in Room 17.
We need about $1000 a month of donations to afford a space, the complimentary snacks that we provide, art supplies and various fees associated with running a nonprofit. Our hope is that you will partner with us on a monthly basis to make this vision a reality. Would you consider sponsoring us? You can do so at: https://www.patreon.com/creatingspaceptbo
If you believe that Creating Space is an excellent addition to the downtown Peterborough community, we ask that you consider becoming a member. Any monthly amount that you could commit to would be very much appreciated and used with the utmost care. Thank you for your consideration!
