Creating space is a small nonprofit offering free art supplies and studio space so that anyone who walks through our doors can get creative. We are seeking corporate and community sponsorship to maintain our new downtown Peterborough location for our community service. Creating Space uses art-making as a tool to foster dialogue, skill sharing, and relationship-building between people of all socio-economic backgrounds, ages, cultures and abilities. It fosters self-directed experiences of creativity, learning and leadership. It encourages re-use and recycling, invites experimentation, generates community, and helps to build emotional and relational resilience.
Through our 3 days/week schedule, we serve about 100 people per month. Participants create paintings, collage, sculpture, sewing, knitting, crocheting, poetry, mask-making, dance, clay, plaster, jewelry making, stamping, screen printing, and more. We have had several short term and pop-up locations in the last two years based on the generous donations of rent-free space at various locations. At long last we’ve signed a lease for a more permanent space in the old Peterborough Collegiate & Vocational School building at 201 McDonnel St., downstairs in Room 17.
To cover the cost of rent and insurance, we set up a Patreon account to give our supporters an opportunity to help us maintain our fabulous new stable location for our clients.
We need about $1000 a month in donations to cover rent, insurance, snacks, art supplies, and a few other bare bones operational costs for our little nonprofit. We hope you will partner with us through a monthly contribution to keep this vision alive in our community.
If you believe that Creating Space is an excellent addition to downtown Peterborough, we ask that you consider becoming a member through our Patreon Account or by e-mailing email@example.com and making arrangements to send a cheque. Any monthly amount you can commit would be much appreciated and will be used with utmost care.
Thank you for your consideration!
